Nyctixalus pictus or the Cinnamon Frog is a species of frog in the Rhacophoridae family.

Description

It grows to about 35 mm in size, is brown or reddish brown with white to yellow spots on the body. Their finger and toe tips are dilated and are known to breed in phytotelms (tree holes having water) and tadpoles drop into water.

Arboreal in nature, they are often found on shrubs and lower tree canopy in primary and secondary forests.

Distribution

Subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests form the natural habitat. This species is found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the

Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand up to elevations of 1650 m above sea level.

In Singapore, sizable populations are found in Bukit Timah and Central Catchment nature reserves.

They are however, threatened by habitat loss due to clearing forests for agriculture and logging.
